We’re more than thrilled to welcome you to our second version of Hijacked Festival, Hijack The Castle. It was always our intention to return to Powderham Castle and now we hope to establish this as an annual celebration to end Freshers Fortnight and to wave goodbye to the Summer and of course, a busy Festival Season.
Powderham Castle is now well established for large outdoor events but retains all the idyllic beauty and splendour you’d expect from such a venue. Nestled on the banks of the Exe Estuary, we feel we’ve secured a beautiful location like no other. The picturesque grounds are the 600-year old home of the Earl and Countess of Devon- there are very few places in the world, where you can listen to some of the finest dance music within stumbling distance of a medieval fortification.
What are the event opening times?
Gates open at 1pm, with the main stage bill beginning at the same time. Please do not arrive before 12.30pm. The festival curfew is 11pm sharp and all attendees must disperse from the venue at this time
Can I attend Hijacked if I am a wheelchair user and/or have a disability?
Provisions can be made for attendees with disabilities. So we can cater to specific people, please notify us of your exact needs in advance by emailing email@example.com
Can Under 18s enter the festival, and do I need to bring ID?
Hijack The Castle is strictly 18+. Please bring a nationally approved form of photo ID, e.g. Passport or Driving License. You may be denied entry without valid identification, and you will not be refunded.
What can’t I bring into Hijacked Festival?
How much cash do I need to bring?
No cash machines will be available, and bars will only have limited ability to accept debit or credit card. You can expect a Pint of Lager to cost you around £4 and hot food to cost between £4 and £8. To ensure convenience, we recommend bringing enough cash to last the entire event.
Where do I pick up my wristband?
You will need to bring your e-ticket or paper ticket with you to the festival. You will then exchange this ticket for a wristband at the gate. Do not remove this wristband, if you do so you may be ejected.
Coach ticket holders will receive a SEPARATE coach ticket wristband at the door of the coach.
What do I do if I feel ill?
If you feel unwell, or injure yourself in anyway, please notify the nearest steward or security person immediately. They will direct you to the first aid tent. Alternatively, if you feel anxious, overwhelmed, scared, or upset during the festival for any reason whatsoever, our friendly and professional welfare team can offer support in the welfare tent. Please see a steward for directions.
Can I camp at Hijacked?
No. Unfortunately no camping is available. All attendees will be required to leave the site after the event at 11pm.
Additionally, please make sure you carefully read through our Terms of Entry
Event Bus Service
Simply choose your departure time and receive an open return included in the price. Buses depart from St. David’s train station and will drop you at the venue. Return buses run from 9pm at the venue and will drop you in the centre of town. Please only use the official Hijacked bus service to guarantee your safest and closest drop off to the site.
The nearest train station is Starcross – approximately a 20-minute walk from the festival. Normal train services will run throughout the day, including options from Exeter Central and Exeter St David’s. For timetables, visit Great Western Railway’s website gwr.com.
The last train from Starcross to Exeter is around midnight – please check before you travel.
Purchasing a train ticket does not guarantee you a place on the train after the festival. If you’ve arrived to the event by train, you will be able to purchase a 1-way bus ticket back to Exeter from the festival bus area.
Local taxi firms will be instructed to drop you to the designated drop off point close to the site– directions will be clearly displayed, and you will have stewards to guide you. When booking your taxi, please specify that you are going to Hijacked Festival at Powderham Castle.
After the event, you must pre-book your taxi with your chosen taxi operator. You will be collected from the dedicated taxi area.
Parking is available at Hijack The Castle. You will need to buy a ticket in advance and display this on your dashboard on entry to the car park area. Follow the road signs to “TAXI AND PARKING AREA” and a steward will direct you to your parking space.
You may leave your car overnight. You choose to do this at your own risk – the car park will not be guarded after 0100. Any cars left overnight must be collected by 1600 the following day (Sunday 29th Sep).
It’s simple. Work half the day, enjoy the other half at the festival for free. You receive free travel, t-shirt, and a drink on us. It’s an opportunity to gain event industry experience and meet great people. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
