Perking ears after Four Tet began heavily rinsing the life-affirming, thunderous percussion of 'Tyrion' in almost all of his sets in 2015; O’Flynn is one young producer with a very enticing future. Inaugurating Leeds’ Blip Records with 2015’s Desmond’s Empire (of which Tyrion was the B-Side), O’Flynn’s measured approach to humid African rhythms sprinkled with their fair share of clattering techno has earned him accolades from the very top. Coined by Boiler Room as “one of dance music’s most prosperous newcomers”, he has received airtime from tastemakers such as James Blake, Joy Orbison and Giles Peterson.
2017 has seen O’Flynn break in his own eponymous label with the synth-goodness of Glow Worm/Aloha Ice Jam. The predictably rapturous response to it tells us all we need to know – O’Flynn is a producer and DJ going from strength to strength in 2017. Be ready to work up a good ol’ fashioned sweat.
